House Republicans Double-Down on Transportation Plan that will Starve Schools

SAINT PAUL, MINN. – House Republicans proposed a “compromise” transportation plan today, however, the plan is essentially a carbon copy of their 2015 proposal, which will “starve-out” the general fund without increasing new revenues to pay for roads and bridges. In addition, the House Republican plan continues to ignore transit investments, something that key stakeholders across the state and business leaders have pushed for in a comprehensive transportation solution. House DFL Leader Paul Thissen released the following statement:



“House Republicans are doubling down on their plan to starve the general fund, taking money away from our schools and our future without generating the new revenue that is needed to actually meet our long-term transportation funding needs.



Minnesotans are frustrated by the gridlock in St. Paul and on their roads. It’s time for House Republicans to stop being a roadblock to a compromise that will truly address our roads, bridges, and transit needs in every corner of the state.”
