House DFL Leader Thissen applauds Governor Dayton’s Leadership on Paid Parental Leave

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

SAINT PAUL, MINN - Today, Governor Dayton announced a plan to guarantee six weeks of paid parental leave to all state employees, making Minnesota a national leader in workplace fairness. House DFL Leader Paul Thissen joined Governor Dayton at the press conference and released the following statement:

“I thank Governor Dayton for once again showing leadership on behalf of the hardworking men and women who make Minnesota a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Our families have the same responsibilities to each other they've always had, but workplace policies haven't kept up with our changing way of life and today’s economy is tilted against hardworking Minnesotans. The Governor’s paid parental leave policy makes Minnesota a national leader in workplace fairness for Minnesota families and children.

I look forward to working with Governor Dayton and the legislature to continue building an economy that works for all Minnesotans this session.”
