Data practices commission sets work plan for coming months

The Legislative Commission on Data Practices met for the first time in nearly nine months Thursday. Created by a 2014 law, the commission is tasked, according to its website, “to study issues relating to government data practices and individuals' personal data privacy rights and to review legislation impacting data practices, data security, and personal data privacy.”
Thursday’s meeting included development of a “Best Practices Guide” for drafting potential legislation, an overview of technology that can be used to ensure select data remains private and discussion of what state agencies should have for minimum baseline protection.
