A special election has been called for Dec. 8 to fill the District 3A seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
The seat became vacant when Rep. David Dill passed away Aug. 8 after a battle with cancer.
Candidates must file their affidavits of candidacy by Aug. 31. A primary election, if necessary, will be held Sept. 29.

The special election will be second such election in about a month. A Nov. 3 special election is scheduled to elect a replacement for Rep. Ryan Winkler, who moved to Belgium.
Republicans currently hold a 72-60 seat advantage in the House.
