Two words changed to make for ‘uniform’ terminology

The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws was established in 1892 to research, draft and promote enactment of uniform state laws in areas of state law where uniformity is desirable and practical.

Rep. Dennis Smith (R-Maple Grove) sponsors HF1342/SF1816*, which contains provisions put forward by the commission. For example, the bill would change the name of the Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act to the Uniform Voidable Transaction Act, make some technical changes to language and clarify some terminology.

The House passed the bill 125-0 Tuesday. In the Senate, with Sen. Richard Cohen (DFL-St. Paul) as its sponsor, the bill was passed 59-0 on April 28. It now awaits action by the governor.
