Starting Line: With all-day K in place, is all-day preschool next?

Minnesota offers a variety of early childhood education programs for its youngest residents, from birth to kindergarten.
These programs include early childhood family education, school readiness, Head Start, and prekindergarten exploratory projects. Minnesota, however, doesn’t have a universal preschool program.
Could that be next?
Last year, Gov. Dayton signed into law all-day kindergarten for Minnesota students. This week’s Starting Line highlights HF46, a bill that Rep. Erin Murphy (DFL-St. Paul) sponsors that would make voluntary all-day preschool available to 4-year-olds.
