A bill that tries to help the state in its fight against excessive health care costs was passed 127-0, as amended, by the House Tuesday.
HF3398/SF2675* would remove a date restriction for the Department of Health to use all-payer claims data to study health care costs. Otherwise, the authorization to use the database would sunset this summer.
Rep. Nick Zerwas (R-Elk River), who sponsors the bill with Sen. Scott Jensen (R-Chaska), successfully amended it by exempting self-insurers from having to submit pricing data.
The bill now returns to the Senate, where it was initially passed 67-0 May 1.
