Minnesotans struggling with substance use could receive better treatment and support under a bill that passed the House Saturday.
Rep. Matt Dean (R-Dellwood) and Sen. Jeff Hayden (DFL-Mpls) sponsor HF2772/*SF2378, which would require the health commissioner to design to reform of the state’s treatment system to “ensure a full continuum of care is available for individuals with substance use disorders.”
The bill passed the House Saturday by a 125-0 vote. The amended bill now returns to the Senate.
The Senate passed the measure 61-0 May 4.
The bill responds to an invitation from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services encouraging states to reform their substance use disorder treatment systems, Dean said in a committee hearing on the bill.
