Criminal penalties for illegal raffle boards are laid out

A 2015 gambling law addressed raffle boards, noting what they are, who can operate them and procedures. The law, however, did not address criminal penalties for those operating boards illegally.

The House passed HF3281 126-0 Monday to define illegal raffle boards as contraband and impose felony criminal charges on those who possess or sell raffle boards without a license, alter or possess such boards or cannot produce board invoices when requested.

Sponsored by Rep. Tim Sanders (R-Blaine), the bill now moves to the Senate where Sen. Lyle Koenen (DFL-Clara City) is the sponsor.
