Niska takes first House oath of office

ST. PAUL – Harry Niska officially is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives after taking the oath of office Tuesday as the 93rd Legislature was installed at the Capitol in St. Paul.

Niska, a Republican, was elected to the House in November and fills the newly configured District 31A seat, which includes the cities of Andover and Ramsey. He has been selected to serve House committees related to commerce and judiciary for the new biennium.

“It is a distinct honor to take the oath of office to represent the people of our district, a place I have lived virtually my whole life,” said Niska, a native of Andover and current resident of Ramsey. “I am excited to take on the challenges we face this session, including an opportunity to deliver meaningful tax relief with a $17.6 billion state surplus. I also already have been working to on a number of local challenges, including resolving the groundwater contamination issue in the Red Oaks neighborhood – a top priority of mine for this session.”

Niska, an attorney, is married to Jennifer and they have three children. He encourages constituents to provide him with input throughout the year, especially during the session.
