Minnesota House passes Driver’s Licenses for All off House Floor
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Today, the Minnesota House voted to pass HF 4, known as “Driver’s Licenses for All” off the House floor. The bill, co-led by Rep. Aisha Gomez (DFL - Minneapolis) and Rep. Maria Isa Pérez-Vega (DFL - Saint Paul), would allow undocumented residents to obtain a driver’s license. Rep. Hodan Hassan (DFL - Minneapolis) is a co-author on the bill.
“The opportunity to earn a driver’s license is necessary for all of our communities to be safe commuting and traveling on our roads,” said Rep. Hassan. “But on an individual level, this bill will also open economic opportunities for many people in our communities. This is an issue of dignity for immigrants who are trying to build a prosperous life in Minnesota, and I’m proud that the Minnesota House has taken this important step in being a supportive place to all who call it home.”
It’s time to allow all Minnesotans to earn a Driver's License – regardless of documentation status.”
