Neighbors,
Youth vaping has grown to be a much larger concern than many people initially thought. For years, youth smoking rates were going down, and for awhile vaping was presented as a useful quit-smoking device.
But since a series of deaths and hospitalizations, it's become clear that it's another product that has serious consequences. I attended a meeting at the Stillwater School's District offices this morning and heard high school students' concerns about vaping among their classmates.
My House colleagues recently announced a plan to protect kids and young adults. In addition to raising the tobacco sales age, our plan calls for halting sales of flavored products that are used to target young people, launching a statewide campaign to educate Minnesotans about this issue, and reducing the availability of e-cigarettes and vaping devices online.
