ST. PAUL, MN— Representative Greg Boe is supporting measures to provide the same weight threshold and penalty for the sale of fentanyl as there is for heroin.
HF3424 would find those with in possession of fentanyl guilty of a first-degree controlled substance crime if the drugs met certain weight minimums.
“Our country is still in the grips of an opioid epidemic. We need to do whatever we can to get these drugs off the streets and the criminals selling these dangerous drugs must be held accountable,” Boe said.
The DEA reports that Fentanyl is frequently mixed with other drugs to increase their potency, often with deadly results.
This bill is in the Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy Committee. More information about HF3424 can be found here.
