The good news is we can build a budget that will ensure all Minnesotans can recover from the hardships of the past year, thanks in part to the federal funds we received from the American Rescue Plan. Working groups made up of House and Senate members are continuing to meet to complete their portions of the budget. I continue to lead negotiations with the Senate on the Commerce/Energy portion of the state budget. I look forward to updating you on the specifics of our budget soon. ECO Act Signed into LawThis week, the governor signed the Energy Conservation and Optimization Act of 2021 (ECO Act) into law. The legislation I was proud to chief author will strengthen Minnesota’s energy conservation programs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create jobs across the state. You can read more about what this means for Minnesota in KSTP’s coverage here. Anoka-Ramsey Community College Nursing and Business Facility ImprovementsI was thrilled to join Sen. Jerry Newton and other community leaders yesterday to break ground on the new nursing and business building at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. This project was made possible by a bill the Sen. Newton and I worked on together in 2020. Anoka-Ramsey is a huge asset to our community and these programs need the new facility badly.
