Rep. Jeff Brand to receive Clean Water Action’s David Zwick Impact Award
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Representative Jeff Brand (DFL – Saint Peter) will be awarded Clean Water Action’s David Zwick Impact Award this October for his advocacy for CWA’s mission and for his work carrying the PFAS Prevention Package in the legislature this year, which was passed as part of the Environment budget bill.
This award, named for founder of Clean Water Action David Zwick, is awarded to those who have done something to change the world in a meaningful way for future generations and have caused an impact to be felt for years to come. This award acknowledges work defining real progress. Clean Water Action cited the following as reason for selecting Rep. Brand to receive the award:
“Representative Jeff Brand has been a champion for protecting Minnesota’s water for years, both while holding elected office and as an advocate. Representative Brand saw an injustice and fought for the strongest possible language that not only held industry accountable for making meaningful change, but also would save lives. Because of Representative Brand’s unwavering work, Minnesota has become a global leader regarding the end of PFAS. And his work isn’t done, he has made it clear that there’s more work to be done to protect Minnesota’s water. Throughout the 2023 legislative session Representative Brand educated the community and his fellow lawmakers about the dangers of PFAS in our water. He fought to raise the voice of Amara Strande and her family over opposition hyperbole and fear-mongering. Representative Brand’s goal to protect Minnesota’s waters has become a global goal - the world paid attention to Minnesota and is now looking to us to continue to lead in this work.”
Representative Brand issued the following statement regarding the award:

The work we did this year is a great example of what can happen when a group of passionate people come together with a common goal: change. Because of the work we did together, we have created a better future for Minnesota.”
The award ceremony will take place on October 8th. Other House members being honored include Rep. Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn (DFL – Eden Prairie), Rep. Matt Norris (DFL – Blaine), Rep. Sydney Jordan (DFL – Minneapolis), Rep. Fue Lee (DFL – Woodbury), and Rep. Athena Hollins (DFL – Saint Paul).
