Legislative Update - February 28, 2019

Thursday, February 28, 2019

Dear Nitty Gritty Granite City Neighbors,

It's been a busy week for St. Cloud at the legislature! With St. Paul coming to St. Cloud and vice versa, all this back and forth makes me wish there was some sort of commuter rail...

#FinishNorthstar

Thank you to everyone who came out for the first hearing on my Northstar bill! It was a powerful and energizing day that I will never forget. We had over 50 testifiers, and much more in the audience. A special thank you to Mayor Dave Kleis, Chamber of Commerce President Teresa Bohnen, and Reverend James Alberts, who testified with me during my presentation, and to everyone who attending the hearing!

This was only the first of many steps, but I look forward to taking the rest with you! You can read more about the hearing here or watch the recording on my official facebook page.

You’ll also be excited to know that your advocacy has made an amazing impact! Today Senator Jerry Relph just introduced a companion to my Northstar bill in the Minnesota Senate! I’m proud and excited that my Northstar bill now has bipartisan and bicameral support!

Lawmakers Coming to St. Cloud (Again!)

Part of my job as your state representative is to make sure your voice is heard by lawmakers throughout the state. That’s why I invited the House Jobs and Economic Development Committee and the House Early Childhood Finance and Policy Committee to hold a joint hearing in St. Cloud this Friday!

It's a great chance to hear from legislators and community members on the economic and educational aspects of early childhood development in our community and across the state.

My wife and I are parents, and even though we're blessed in so many ways, it can still be a struggle for us to make sure we're providing the best for our kids. It's a balancing act that a lot of us face, and I look forward to discussing ways we can improve the lives of children, parents, and those who help care for and educate our children.

When: Friday, March 1, 1-2:30pm

Where: Great River Regional Library
             Mississippi Community Room 106
             1300 W. St. Germain St.
             St. Cloud, MN 56301

For any questions on this hearing, you can contact Travis Reese at travis.reese@house.mn.

New Flyer Tour

Another benefit of bringing the House Transportation Committee to St. Cloud was the opportunity to show off the New Flyer facility in St. Cloud. These are the folks that built the new all-electric bus for Metro Transit, and other buses all over the country! They employ 900 Minnesotans, and it was great to meet many of them on our tour.

St. Cloud State

Shout out to the group from St. Cloud State that came to visit me this week! Thank you for advocating for quality higher education and making sure voices from SCSU are heard.

Stay In Touch

As always, I want to hear from you. You can call me at (651) 296-6612, or email me at rep.dan.wolgamott@house.mn. My office in St. Paul is Room 401 in the State Office Building. I look forward to hearing from you.

Stay Warm & Go Huskies!
