Legislative Update - Preparing for 2024

Thursday, December 14, 2023
Rep. Lee

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for granting me the incredible honor of serving our community in the Minnesota Legislature this year. For the first time in a decade, Minnesotans elected a unified state government under DFL control. Not only that, we began the 2023 legislative session with the most diverse legislature in state history. These elements proved to be a recipe for success, and I’m incredibly proud of the accomplishments we brought home for our community and the entire state.

Together, we protected reproductive rights, addressed our housing crisis, made major moves towards clean energy, delivered the largest tax cut in state history, strengthened gun violence prevention measures, legalized adult-use cannabis, expanded voting rights, prioritized our students, and so much more.

I’m especially proud of the $2.6 billion in infrastructure investments I passed as Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee, $43.5 million of which goes directly to our community.

I couldn’t do this work without you, and with this year’s session complete, I’m excited to share our accomplishments and start the conversation about the work that still needs to be done. Looking ahead to the 2024 legislative session, I’m hoping to hear more perspectives and feedback from our neighbors. As part of this effort, I’d appreciate it if you took part in the new Minnesota Values Project survey.

You can take the survey by clicking this link.

The survey only takes a few minutes, and as we build a shared vision for our state, your input is crucial in this process. I look forward to hearing from you.

The Cold Weather Rule

As we near the end of the year, and cold weather sets in, a quick reminder that Minnesota’s “cold weather rule” is now in effect, which protects residents from having their electric or natural gas service shut off between October 1 and April 30.

Cold Weather Rule

To ensure your service is safe from disconnection, you must make and keep a payment plan that you and your utility provider agree on. More information is available on the Minnesota Department of Commerce’s website
