BLOOMINGTON, MN – Rep. Chad Anderson, R-Bloomington, would like to remind area residents of Minnesota’s Homeowner’s Homestead Credit Refund. The regular refund is based on household income and property taxes paid, while the special refund applies to homes who’ve seen at least a 12% increase in net property taxes. Full information can be found at http://www.revenue.state.mn.us/individuals/prop_tax_refund/Pages/Homeowners_Property_Tax_Refund.aspx.
“There are many families in Bloomington who could qualify for one of these refunds provided by the State of Minnesota,” said Anderson. “If you’re a homeowner, I’d encourage you to see if you’re eligible to be refunded for a portion of your property tax bill.”
Along with refunds for homeowners, the state also has a program to benefit renters. The Renter’s Property Tax Refund is based on household income and the amount of property taxes paid in a year. More information is available at http://www.revenue.state.mn.us/individuals/prop_tax_refund/Pages/Renters_Property_Tax_Refund.aspx.
“Our area is home to numerous families renting an apartment or a house,” said Anderson. “It’s important to see if you’re eligible to receive a refund if you’ve been paying too much in property taxes as a portion of your rent payment.”
