Legislative Update (March 11, 2016)

Friday, March 11, 2016

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you’ve had a good week, and are ready to enjoy the warm temps this weekend. The coming of spring means things are starting to heat up at the Capitol, too. It’s been a busy first week in St. Paul, and I wanted to pass along a couple highlights.

State of the State Address

On Wednesday, my wife, Anne, and I joined my fellow lawmakers at the University of Minnesota to hear Governor Dayton’s State of the State address. It was inspiring to see all of our legislators coming together in one place for a common purpose. I’m optimistic that this will carry over into the legislative session where I hope we can work to benefit all of Minnesota.

Bloomington Chamber Recap

Last week, I attended a legislative forum with the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. I joined other legislators from our area to discuss the 2016 session. I always enjoy sharing my vision for providing road and bridge funding and tax relief for Minnesotans. If you’re part of a local organization or business and would like me to visit or speak, please contact my office.

Reflections From the First Week

It’s been a busy, but rewarding first week of the session. One of my committees, Government Operations and Elections Policy, met on Thursday, and my other two committees are set to meet next week. We also had a couple floor sessions where I’m starting to learn some of the finer points of floor discussions. It’s an interesting process, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for our area.

Please Contact Me

I hope you’ll call, email, or schedule a meeting during the legislative session. Hearing your ideas and suggestions for our state helps me become a better voice for Bloomington. Please contact me if I can assist you in any way.

Have a great weekend, and enjoy the weather!
