Legislative Forum Tonight

Thursday, February 25, 2016

Dear neighbors,

I’ve been spending lots of time in St. Paul this week to continue to learn as much as I can before the start of the legislative session on March 8. I’ve appreciated hearing your questions and suggestions, and hope you’ll continue to contact me.

Legislative Forum

Tonight, I’m joining other area legislators for a legislative forum hosted by the Bloomington School Board. The event, which is open to the public, starts at 6 p.m. at the district’s Educational Services Center, 1350 W. 106th Street. We’ll be discussing education issues, as well as the upcoming legislative session. I hope you’ll make it to the forum, but if you can’t, it’s being broadcast on Bloomington Educational Cable Television (channel 15) or can be streamed at bectv.org.

Transportation Funding

One of my focuses this year is to advocate for increased transportation funding to repair and expand our roads and bridges throughout the state. In our area and around Minnesota, there’s a need for increased transportation funding. In the upcoming session, I plan to support the current House plan that invests $7 billion in the next 10 years without increasing taxes on Minnesota families. Over the next ten years, the Republican proposal invests:

$4.03 billion for state roads

$1.44 billion for county roads

$583 million for municipal roads

$282 million for small cities under 5,000

It’s important to fund transportation without impacting you family’s budget. Using dedicated funding – rather than a gas tax increase – would allow the state to invest in roads and bridges with current revenue streams. I look forward to working on this issue to help our state improve our current roads and bridges.

Contact Information

It’s been great hearing from you early in my time as a representative. During session, I hope to keep an open line of communication with residents around the district. If you have a question, concern, or a suggestion for our state, please contact me. You can reach me at 651-296-4218 or rep.chad.anderson@house.mn. Also, please give me a call if you’d like to set up a time to meet in St. Paul or our district. I’m here to serve you, and I thank you for this opportunity.

Have a great weekend,

Chad
