Greetings Northlanders,
The Legislature is currently in recess for observance of the Easter and Passover holidays. This has given me a good opportunity to connect with some folks up here in the district.
On Monday, I was honored to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Black Beach Campground in Silver Bay. This was a project funded by last year’s Capital Investment bill and I’m grateful for the support from the region and from my fellow lawmakers of both parties.
Yesterday, I made the trip down to Coleraine to visit UMD’s Natural Resources Research Institute. It was a good first-hand look at the important research NRRI does on water, minerals, energy, and forest and wood products.
Last night, I had the opportunity to visit with members of snowmobile clubs in Orr about trail grooming issues.
When activity resumes at the State Capitol next week, there will be about a month remaining in the session. The full House of Representatives will be considering the budget bills for the various topic areas in the state budget. For my part, I’ll be working to make sure our budget is put together responsibly in a way that strengthens the things we all value like our schools, health care, and the ability for all Minnesotans to succeed and prosper.
Please continue to contact me with your feedback, input, and if I can ever be of assistance. It’s an honor to be your voice in Saint Paul.
Sincerely,
Rob Ecklund
