REP. TIM MILLER INVITED TO JOIN WORKING GROUP ON LAWS AGAINST CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT

Thursday, August 8, 2019

[ST. PAUL, MN, August 8, 2019] Rep. Tim Miller (R- Prinsburg) has been invited to participate in a working group to reform laws surrounding criminal sexual conduct in Minnesota. This working group, to be convened by the Commissioner of Public Safety, John Harrington, was established as part of legislation passed in the 2019 Legislative Session.
Rep. Miller has been an advocate for victims’ rights in criminal sexual assault law since first being elected to the Minnesota House in 2012. His wife, Cherie Miller, is a nurse and sexual assault survivor.

“I am honored to be addressing this working group as it begins its important mission,” said Rep. Miller. “For far too long, victims of sexual abuse have seen their abusers get light sentences and face seemingly few consequences for their actions. The perpetrators will go on to commit similar or worse crimes, and the survivors have to live with that knowledge as well as the memory of the abuse. That needs to stop now.”
