RELEASE: Rep. Considine responds to Walz/Flanagan budget for One Minnesota

Tuesday, February 19, 2019

ST. PAUL – Today, Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan announced their two-year proposal for the Minnesota state budget. The budget focuses on the issues that matter most to Minnesotans: bringing down the cost of health care, improving education, and ensuring communities across the state are prospering.

State Rep. Jack Considine (DFL – Mankato) issued the following statement:

“I’m incredibly proud that Governor Walz recognizes how deeply Minnesotans value having great schools, affordable health care, and safe, prosperous communities, no matter in which zip code someone lives. The Governor’s bold vision for our state is reflected in this budget which has meaningful investments in education, transportation, housing, health care, and a host of other areas in which investment is critical. As chair of the House Corrections Division, I’m thankful for his proposal to enhance safety at our correctional institutions by increasing staffing, and for his strategies to reduce recidivism.

“While I’m going to take some time to dig into all the details, on the surface overall, this is an excellent starting point this session for securing our future, together, of ‘One Minnesota.’”
