News Release
ST. CLOUD, MN – The Electrolux freezer factory in St. Cloud officially shut down Friday. Electrolux plans to consolidate its freezer manufacturing into an existing plant in South Carolina. Representative Tama Theis, R-St. Cloud, issued the following statement regarding the closure.
“Last week, the St. Cloud area lost hundreds of jobs and a major fixture in our community,” said Theis. “For decades, Electrolux has provided jobs to a huge number of people in our area. I want to thank all of the factory’s exceptional employees for their hard work and many contributions to our community. Their quality of work and dedication to excellence is an inspiration to many.”
The factory closure was announced by Electrolux in January 2018, and results in the layoff of most of the factory’s approximately 750 employees. Dislocated workers can contact the Department of Employment and Economic Development for assistance here.
