Rep. Isaacson Receives Award from Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities

Wednesday, July 3, 2013

ST. PAUL, MN – Rep. Jason Isaacson (DFL—Shoreview) recently received an award from the Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (MN-CCD).

In a letter to Rep. Isaacson, MN-CCD praised the state Legislature for passing a budget that includes “many critical decisions that will affect Minnesotans with disabilities, their loved ones and those that provide them care.”

The letter went on thank Rep. Isaacson for his “advocacy, dedication and hard work” and “outstanding leadership in the legislature” while noting the “many positive outcomes this session.”

“I’m honored to receive this award from MN-CCD,” said Rep. Isaacson. “We passed a lot of important policies this year that will improve the lives of Minnesotans with disabilities, like a $40 million boost for Special Education, pay raise for long-term care workers, and increased access to affordable health care and housing. These are the kinds of compassionate policies that will move our state forward.”

“Representative Isaacson has been a strong ally and advocate for the disability community this session,” said Rebecca Covington, Executive Director of MN-CCD.

“He not only supported policies that would serve to increase the quality of life and further independence for individuals with disabilities, but made time to meet with advocates from the disability community and listened to their concerns. Representative Isaacson made the time to visit citizen-advocates when they were at the Capitol, and the enthusiasm and support that he expressed was incredibly motivating and meaningful. It is great to see an elected official keep the needs of his constituents at the fore of their policy decision making.”

During the interim, Rep. Isaacson encourages his constituents to contact him with any questions, comments, or other feedback. He can be reached by phone at (651) 296-7153, by email at rep.jason.isaacson@house.mn, or by postal mail at 545 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155.
