State Rep. Jason Isaacson Sworn-In as Legislative Session Begins

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

(ST. PAUL, MN) — State Representative Jason Isaacson (DFL – Shoreview) was officially sworn in as the District 42B State Representative as the 88th Legislative Session convened at noon on January 8th at the State Capitol. Rep. Isaacson is beginning his first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives serving Shoreview, Vandais Heights, and Little Canada.

Rep. Isaacson was also recently elected by his fellow legislators to serve as an assistant majority leader in the new DFL majority. While the state is facing a number of challenges, starting with a $1.1 billion budget deficit, Rep. Isaacson is ready to get to work and help the new DFL majority govern effectively.

“I’m honored and humbled by the confidence my fellow legislators have shown in me, and I’m ready to get to work,” said Rep Isaacson. “We have to balance our budget honestly and responsibly with no more gimmicks, while ensuring that the budget funds our most important priorities like education, and positions our state for long-term economic success.”

Rep. Isaacson was also selected to serve on the Education Policy, Environment and Natural Resources Policy, Housing Finance and Policy, and the Jobs and Economic Development Finance and Policy Committees.

“I’m excited to be serving on these important committees and focusing on the issues that our district cares deeply about,” added Rep. Isaacson. “We need to continue to do all that we can to ensure that our schools have the best teachers and principals, that our beautiful Minnesota environment is protected — while working toward green energy jobs of the future — that we have enough affordable housing, and most importantly, that Minnesotans can find training and good-paying jobs.

“There’s a lot to be done, but I believe that if we work hard and work together, we can make Minnesota an even better state to live, work, and raise a family.”

Throughout the legislative session, Rep. Isaacson encourages all constituents to contact him directly with any questions, comments, or concerns on any legislative issue. Rep. Isaacson can be reached by phone at (651) 296-7153 or by email at rep.jason.isaacson@house.mn.
