ST. PAUL – Representative David FitzSimmons (R-Albertville) released the following statement on Otsego Elementary School being named a 2012 Celebration School.
“I’m thrilled to announce, along with the Minnesota Department of Education, that Otsego Elementary School has been designated a 2012 Celebration School,” said FitzSimmons. “I’m proud of the work that our students, parents, teachers, Principal Talley, and the Elk River school board have done to increase student achievement at Otsego Elementary. Education should always be focused on our students and I’m pleased to see that our local schools are being recognized.”
According to the Minnesota Department of Education, schools that receive a Multiple Measurement Rating that falls between the 60th and 80th percentile are deemed Celebration-eligible and are invited to apply for this recognition. Of the 211 schools deemed eligible to apply, the Minnesota Department of Education received more than 140 applications, and from that group only 57 were chosen based upon their notable work to increase student achievement.
