ST. PAUL, MN –Today, the House passed Medical Assistance Expansion, HF 9, on a 71-56 vote. The expansion will expand health care coverage to an estimated 40,000 low-income, uninsured Minnesotans. The federal government will pay 100 percent of the costs of the program until 2016, phasing down to 90 percent after 2020.
State Representative Zach Dorholt (DFL-St. Cloud) released the following statement:
“Expanding Medicaid will provide healthcare coverage to more Minnesotans who need care. This is common sense legislation because we are taking advantage of a federal program that will pay for the expansion. I work in the healthcare field and appreciate this effort to expand healthcare coverage to uninsured Minnesotans at a low cost to the state.”
