Dear Neighbor,
Monday is Veterans Day, so let’s make a point of expressing our gratitude to the men and women who have served our great nation. The price they pay for our liberty is enormous, yet even a simple “thank you” is greatly appreciated.
Below are several resources available to assist veterans in a number of ways. I encourage you to pass this information along to anyone you think may be interested and/or assist anyone that may need a helping hand.
MDVA
The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs provides assistance to veterans and their families on a number of levels. The website www.mn.gov/mdva has information on everything from state and federal benefits, to higher education opportunities, memorials and burials, claims, LinkVet support, long-term care and more. Those without access to a computer can learn more by calling the MDVA’s LinkVet line at (888) 546-5838.
E-mail Newsletters
The MDVA also issues e-mail newsletters free of charge to keep you informed of veterans issues in Minnesota. Here is the website to sign up to receive them: https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/MNDVA/subscriber/new?topic_id=MNDVA_1
Eagle’s Healing Nest
Non-profit organizations also provide valuable services for veterans. The Eagle’s Healing Nest in Sauk Centre is geared toward providing a wide array of services, from reintegration to society to helping heal the “invisible wounds” of war. Log on to http://www.eagleshealingnest.com/ or call (320) 351-6200 all 24 hours for more.
Sincerely,
Mark
