Anderson takes oath

Friday, January 11, 2013

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Mark Anderson was sworn into office Tuesday as the 88th Legislature convened at the Capitol to start the 2013 session.

It was the first oath of office for Anderson, a Lake Shore Republican. The pilot and microbrewery entrepreneur with a black belt in karate represents District 9A. He is the son of Don Anderson, who served in the Minnesota Senate from 1982-1990.

“The swearing-in process is something I will always remember,” Anderson said. “It meant the world to me being able to have friends and family in the House to share the ceremony with me. We just tried to soak it all in.”

Anderson will serve three House committees: Civil Law; Education Policy; and Transportation Policy.

“I am an advocate for responsible spending, business growth to expand the workforce, and taxpayer protection,” Anderson said. “We are at a crucial point in our state’s history and the decisions we make now will have lasting impacts. Our children and our children’s children are depending on us to make wise decisions, something I will keep in mind as I consider issues at the Capitol.”

Anderson encourages constituents to provide him with input throughout the year, especially during the session. He may be reached via e-mail at rep.mark.anderson@house.mn or by calling (651) 296-4293.
