ST. PAUL –Rep. Mark Anderson, R-Lake Shore, issued the following statement regarding the release of the state's new economic forecast on Thursday, which calls for a $1.87 billion surplus for fiscal years 2016-17.
"It should come as no surprise the state has a surplus in this range since just two years ago the Democrats raised taxes by about the same amount," Anderson said. "Now those unnecessary tax dollars are arriving and those same people who raised our taxes will treat it as if this were found money and spend it 10 times over before the 2016 session even begins. {C}I support doing the right thing by putting these dollars back in the pockets of taxpayers the Democrats took it from in the first place."
