Rep. Melin: Strong Bonding Bill is a Top Priority for 2014 Session

Thursday, September 26, 2013

ST. PAUL, MN – This week, Rep. Carly Melin (DFL – Hibbing) continued a statewide tour with fellow members of the House of Representatives Capital Investment Committee to review projects that could be included in a bonding bill that will be crafted during the 2014 legislative session.

The projects are designed to create jobs and improve roads, schools, and other infrastructure in local communities.

This week’s events included several stops in Rep. Melin’s district. Projects assessed by the committee included:

  • New municipal services building for Chisholm.
  • Expansion of the Range Regional Airport in Hibbing.
  • Improvements to Hibbing Community College.
  • Housing development in Nashwauk.

Today, the statewide bonding tour continued with additional events in Coleraine, LaPrairie, Grand Rapids, Aitkin, Isle, and Sandstone.

“Passing a strong bonding bill is vital to the economic health of the entire region,” said Rep. Melin, who serves on the Capital Investment Committee. “This is one of my top priorities for the 2014 session because it will create good jobs on the Range to help people provide for themselves and their families. I’m honored to serve on the committee, tour our great state, and help shape this bill.”

Rep. Melin encourages Minnesotans to contact her office with bonding requests as soon as possible if they have not already done so.
