“Today's Omnibus House Tax bill will raise $3 billion in new taxes and fees imposed on all income brackets. It should come as no surprise to anyone that I opposed this bill. The new rate on our highest earners will make us #2 in the nation, driving investment to border states, particularly Wisconsin. When I began my service in the state legislature, many of you supported my stance on fiscal responsibility and improving the business climate in our state. This tax plan does exactly the opposite, and there is no reason for it: the state's deficit is nearly gone, and our economic activity is picking up again. I voiced my concerns on January 24th saying the DFL budget 'increases taxes all over the place!' Based on the results from over 600 constituents who completed my survey, many agree with me.
