To the Editor,
I’d like to thank all of the residents who took the time on January 31 to attend my listening session on rising property tax rates. People from Baudette to Bemidji shared their concerns and offered ideas, and I know Property Tax Chairman Steve Drazkowski was very pleased with the turnout and was happy to hear input from so many residents.
Reducing classifications and assuring fair appraisal are primary concerns. The system seems to unfairly burden agricultural and small business property.
Personally, I was thrilled to see so much community interest and involvement on this topic. Your voices made a difference and I thank you for your participation.
I hope to have more town meetings like this in the future throughout our district. My desire is to represent you and your ideas and put you back in charge of state government.
