REAL ID UPDATE

Friday, January 8, 2016

Dear Neighbors,

There's good news from the State Capitol today, as the Department of Homeland Security tells us the earliest that REAL ID-compliance licenses would ever be required to board an airplane is January 22nd, 2018. Further, if states have yet to fully comply by this date, extensions can be granted until October 2020.

In other words, if for some reason you were concerned about REAL ID impacting your flight plans, don't be. The Minnesota Legislature now has two years to solve this problem, and I have full confidence we will find that solution in the coming months. In the meantime, your drivers license will continue to serve as necessary identification before you are allowed to board an airplane.

Sincerely,

Dave
