Hello from the State Capitol,
Nov. 11 is a special day for all Americans – it is Veterans Day. This day was selected as a time to honor and respect those who chose to give themselves to our nation and to fight for the cause of freedom.
These men and women sacrificed time away from their families and friends to do what they believed were the appropriate action. It has not mattered when or where, when duty called, these individuals understood.
Thank you. These are words I cannot say often enough. Our freedoms have been preserved because of your worthy efforts.
I encourage everyone to take a moment and think about those in your community who are veterans. Find them, sit down with them, and thank them. Spend some time talking with them about their experiences, and let them understand that their period of service was not in vain. God Bless our veterans. We thank you, and honor you on this and every Veterans Day.
