RELEASE: Rep. Franson on Start of New Legislative Session

Monday, February 12, 2024

SAINT PAUL – Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria) released the following statement on the first day of the 2024 legislative session:

“As the new legislative session begins, there is so much work that needs to be done to get Minnesota back on track. Democrats squandered a $17.5 billion surplus last session on wasteful government spending – including a $730 million Palace for Politicians. While the majority increased the state budget by 40%, they did nothing to increase family budgets. Instead, they raised taxes by $10 billion.

“I will fight for family budgets and defend our way of life this session. I will continue to stand up for permanent, meaningful tax relief for our hardworking families. I will be a voice of reason when Democrats try to pass their expensive and extreme agenda, like their bill to make Minnesota a sanctuary state. Minnesotans are not being served well under one-party control. I look forward to working to bring more balance to St. Paul this session.”

Franson welcomes correspondence throughout the session and encourages District 12B residents to email rep.mary.franson@house.mn.gov or call (651) 296-3201 to get in touch.
