ROSEAU, MINN— On Thursday, legislative leaders met with Governor Dayton again to try and come to an agreement for a special session. While they were very close on most issues including tax relief and bonding, Democrats held up passing those bipartisan initiatives over a highly controversial Southwest Light Rail Line that is facing pending legal challenges.
“Meaningful tax relief, funding to improve our roads and bridges, and investments in important bonding projects statewide were all blocked over an expensive, controversial light rail project that keeps growing in cost and is currently facing pending legal challenges in court,” said Representative Dan Fabian (R-Roseau). “Legislative leaders were able to come to bipartisan agreements on so many things during session including a bipartisan tax bill vetoed by Governor Dayton, and I am disappointed everything was blocked over a boondoggle train in Minneapolis.”
