Legislative Update

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

Dear Neighbors,

I would like to let you know that this week is dedicated to two very special groups of people who strengthen our communities, and help those in need —teachers and nurses.

Tuesday was National Teacher Appreciation Day, and I have to say it holds a special place in my heart because my wife is a special education teacher. Quality teachers help our kids learn and grow, preparing them for a bright future. Teachers inspire curiosity in children and help them see the world on a grander scale, and for that they deserve our praise and thanks.

Happy National Teacher Appreciation Day to the hardworking teachers in our district and across Minnesota!

In addition to celebrating teachers, we are also celebrating National Nurses Week. The nursing profession is a tough career, and nurses are always there to offer a steady, caring hand to our sick and vulnerable. A special shout out to my own mom whose nursing career was spent working the 3rd shift in a hospital emergency room prior to spending many, many years in the nursing profession at senior living facilities.

Our health care field is always changing, but nurses are a constant and needed presence to deliver quality care. A good nurse not only cares for us when we are ill, but they teach us how to care for ourselves—whether it’s recovering from surgery or managing a chronic disease.

So thank you to all the hardworking nurses out there, and I hope you have a Happy Nurses Week. You deserve this recognition and praise, and I thank you for choosing a career of service to others.

It’s an honor to represent you at the Capitol. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can ever be assistance to you on a matter of state government.

Have a great week.

Sincerely,

Bob
