St. Paul, Minn. – Today, Governor Dayton called on the Minnesota Legislature to protect funding for voluntary pre-Kindergarten programs across the state. If legislative action is not taken to make the funding permanent, 59 school districts statewide will lose previously set aside, one-time funding, including the Bloomington Public School District. A spreadsheet of all impacted school districts can be found here. Rep. Paul Rosenthal (DFL- Edina) released the following statement:
“Education has made Minnesota a leader, but we won’t continue to lead by eliminating our school districts’ pre-K funding, especially at time of a budget surplus. We’ve come so far to ensure our youngest learners get a fair shot at a successful future in school and life- they deserve it. We should pass the Governor’s proposal to secure this funding for the future.”
