House Republican statement on MNsure enrollment

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

St. Paul - Members of the MNsure Board met Wednesday with the expectation of announcing enrollment numbers for Minnesota’s new health insurance exchange. However, MNsure announced Tuesday that they had delayed sharing application information with health plans until later this month. Without that information, health plans are not able to completely enroll anyone. House Assistant Republican Leader Tara Mack of Apple Valley released the following statement Wednesday regarding the MNsure Board meeting.

“Two weeks after MNsure’s rocky launch, not a single Minnesotan has been able to complete enrollment in health insurance through Democrats' new state agency. Just yesterday, we learned MNsure has failed to meet another deadline and is delaying delivering applicant information to insurers. The longer MNsure remains in disarray, the fewer people will actually get insurance. The fewer people who enroll, the higher the health insurance tax is going to be on plans sold through MNsure in future years. Hardworking taxpayers can’t afford to pay even more for Democrats’ new state agency,” Rep. Mack said. “Today, I was disappointed to see MNsure officials continue to move the goal posts in an effort to hide their failures from the public. I urge Governor Dayton and Democrats to take responsibility for their new state agency and try to fix MNsure before it’s too late.”
