5th Anniversary of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

This week marks the fifth anniversary of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment. Voters approved the Legacy Amendment in 2008 after a coalition of groups campaigned across the state to improve funding for outdoor and arts related projects. The three-eighths cent sales tax has generated more than $1 billion for projects like prairie restoration, water monitoring in lakes and theatrical performances.

The Legacy Amendment also serves as a reminder that Minnesotans are always willing to support the things that make our state great. Our natural and cultural resources help make us one the best places to live in the entire country.  Our decision to support those aspects of our state with continuous funding ensures that they will remain as valuable resources for generations to come.
If you ever know of a project that could benefit from Legacy support, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  Or, go to www.legacy.leg.mn/ to learn more about which projects are eligible for support.
