St. Paul, Minnesota — On Tuesday, April 20, the jury reached a guilty verdict on all charges in the trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. Representative Sandra Masin (DFL - Eagan) released the following statement:
“Last year, looking at the video of George Floyd’s death was appalling. No one deserves to be treated in that manner. The resulting protests and stress of these past months have impacted us all. The anxiety level increased during the trial. The fact that the jury did come back with a guilty verdict provides some relief. Accountability has been served onto a man. My hope is that this verdict will serve as a foundation for even more action to ensure that all of our citizens are treated respectfully and fairly.”
