Dear Friends,
The 88th Legislative Session convened on Tuesday, January 8. Redistricting and the 2012 election have ushered in 37 new House members. Having helped with new legislator orientation, I know that we are all eager to work together on fresh solutions to our state’s problems. I am excited to get to work on the behalf of the Mankato community.
Economic forecasts revealed early last month that lawmakers must tackle a $1.1 billion budget shortfall this year. When the money still owed to schools and inflation is included the shortfall rises to over $3 billion.
Despite this challenge, I am confident that we can set the right priorities and responsibly balance the budget. In addition, I look forward to working to grow our middle-class economy, improve education, provide property tax relief and modernize Minnesota’s tax system.
I hope you will contact me with your comments and questions.
As always, it is a privilege and an honor to represent you.
Sincerely,
Kathy Brynaert
State Representative
