Rep. Anzelc Links Strong Bonding Bill to Economic Growth in Northern Minnesota

Thursday, September 26, 2013

ST. PAUL, MN – Rep. Tom Anzelc (DFL – Balsam Township) joined a bipartisan group of state lawmakers who serve on the Minnesota House of Representatives Capital Investment Committee today to highlight a series of projects designed to create jobs in northern Minnesota.

The events are part of an ongoing statewide tour by the House Capital Investment Committee to gather information and feedback about projects that could be included in a bonding bill that will be crafted during the 2014 legislative session.

The tour came through Rep. Anzelc’s district today for events in Coleraine, LaPrairie, and Grand Rapids. Projects assessed by the committee included:

  • Sanity sewer and water main improvements in Coleraine.
  • Infrastructure enhancements in LaPrairie.
  • Improvements to the Reif Performing Arts Center in Grand Rapids.
  • Improvements to Itasca Community College.
  • Expansion of a wastewater stabilization pond and improvements to the Regional Community Facility in Deer River.

“A strong bonding bill will bring good jobs to the people of northern Minnesota and create the kind of economic growth our region needs,” said Rep. Anzelc. “I’m pleased I was able to join my colleagues today and let them know how important these projects are to our communities. When you factor them in with the funds we receive from the taconite production tax administered by the IRRRB, it allows us to improve our regional infrastructure and make sure it’s built to last.”

Rep. Anzelc encourages Minnesotans to contact his office with bonding requests as soon as possible if they have not already done so.
