ST. PAUL, MN – Today the Office of Minnesota Management and Budget released a new budget forecast showing a projected deficit of $627 million for fiscal years 2014-2015.
Rep. Tom Anzelc (DFL – Balsam Township) released the following statement reacting to the February forecast.
“Minnesota’s perpetual budget deficits over the past decade are the result of cuts and gimmicks. A projected $627 million deficit means that the status quo isn’t working.
Middle class families and our schools can’t afford any more short-term fixes.
Northern Minnesotans should be pleased to know that DFL majorities in the Legislature are committed to working with Governor Dayton in an orderly and progressive fashion to pass a fair budget that invests in our children’s education.
We’re on track to complete our work on time and put an end to the status quo of cuts, borrowing, and gimmicks.”
