St. Paul – State Representative Kurt Zellers (R-Maple Grove) released the following statement today regarding Governor Dayton’s press conference today:
“Last session, Mark Dayton made Minnesota a harder place to live, to work, to own a business, and to raise a family. Today, he is sheepishly trying to cover up what he did and have it both ways. The people of Minnesota will not be fooled.
The Governor, as well as the DFL legislature, knows that between the tax increases, fully implementing Obamacare in Minnesota, and rewarding themselves with a lavish $90 million Senate office building, they have hurt hard working taxpayers.
The Governor has shown no leadership since signing the tax bill last session, which he now wants to undo. He has taken no real responsibility for the $90 Senate office building. And for him to now seem outraged by what happened is disingenuous at best. I don’t know if he read the bill, but I know he signed it.
The DFL-controlled legislature and Governor Dayton should end their bickering, pass the tax bill into law this week, and immediately repeal the law allowing construction of the new Senate Office Building.”
