RELEASE: ZELLERS & KELLY STATEMENT ON SPECIAL SESSION

Thursday, August 8, 2013

State Representative Kurt Zellers (R-Maple Grove) and State Representative Tim Kelly (R-Red Wing) released the following statement today regarding Governor Mark Dayton’s comments calling for a Special Session to address disaster relief and repeal of the sales tax on farm equipment:

"While it's good news that Governor Dayton now recognizes the farm equipment sales tax he signed into law in May is a bad idea, we shouldn't stop there. The warehousing tax passed at the same time is hurting small businesses and jobs right now," Rep. Zellers said.

Rep. Kelly added, "Along with storm relief and repealing the farm equipment tax, we're calling on Dayton and DFL legislative leaders to repeal the warehousing tax and the sales tax on equipment for all Minnesota businesses during the special session."

Reps. Zellers and Kelly will introduce a bill during the special session to repeal these unnecessary and harmful taxes on hardworking Minnesota taxpayers.

"Governor Dayton's flip flops and do-overs are creating uncertainty for Minnesota employers and workers. It's time to end the waffling and get Minnesota working again," Rep. Zellers said.
