RELEASE: Rep. Lesch responds to Walz/Flanagan ‘Budget for One Minnesota’

Tuesday, February 19, 2019

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan today released their two-year state budget proposal. State Rep. John Lesch (DFL – Saint Paul), chair of the House Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Division, issued the following statement:

“Governor Walz has proposed a budget that’s fair, honest, and responsible while making bold steps forward to strengthen our state. We all value having terrific schools, affordable, accessible health care, and communities we’re proud to call ‘home.’ Minnesotans care about each other, and the Governor’s budget proposal was clearly crafted with that value in mind. The robust investments throughout this budget will ensure our state will remain in a strong position to ensure everyone has the opportunity to prosper.

“Beyond the historic investments in schools and efforts to lower health care costs, there are so many other things to like about this budget. As chair of the House Judiciary Committee, I thank the Governor for fully funding the budget request from our courts, helping ensure access to justice. I look forward to working through this proposal in the days and weeks to come as we work together to build ‘One Minnesota.’”
