REP. CORNISH NAMED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE PUBLIC SAFETY POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

ST. PAUL – Incoming Minnesota Speaker of the House Kurt Daudt has appointed State Representative Tony Cornish (R-Vernon Center) as Chairman of the Minnesota House Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee.

“I have great respect for those who enforce our laws and help protect Minnesotans, and I’m excited to once again chair the committee that ensures they have the resources they need to succeed,” Cornish said.

Cornish is well suited for the job, as he has spent most of his adult life working in law enforcement.

Cornish said the Minnesota House Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee oversees and funds all areas within public safety, including the court system, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and other corrections and justice programs.

Cornish was recently elected to his 7th term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He previously served as chair of the public safety committee in 2011 and 2012.
